Through the Woods to Mill 5

Simpson's 55 year-old SW12 #1200 is on the point hauling logs uphill from Oakland Bay to be milled into fresh lumber at Mill 5. The #1201 will follow up on the rear as a manual pusher. This spot, near MP 4.5, is where new reinforcement to the bank was accomplished after Goldsborough Creek tore it up during the rain and flooding of December 2008. The damage closed the railroad for 14 months until it resumed normal operations February 9th, 2010. Pic taken 02/19/2010 at 11:30 AM.
Joel,

I've really been enjoying your Simpson shots here lately. That's one railroad I've been wanting to check out for a long long time. By any chance do you know how often they are running right now? I'm only up in Bremerton, so it's not much of a jaunt south if I know when to come...

Feel free to send me a private message if you want to discuss this off of the comment board...

Take care!
