Howdy folks this Jeffrey Govin with some newly updated photos from our trip to the past present and future as Candace and I took a trip to Winter Park Colorado on Sunday February 14Th 2010. It was an exciting trip as we woke up at 530 am to head to a snowy Denver to hop on Amtrak 5 The California Zephyr to Winter Park/Fraser Colorado. It was a an exciting journey as Candace got to witness the climb into the Rockies and to kind of give me a reunion of where I once stayed and traveled to see various changes like the Ski Area expanding and the pine bark beetle demolishing many pine trees that once stood high above the snowy hills. As we exited the western portal side of the Moffat tunnel we stopped at the station where we met our rental car for the day . The first place we stopped was the Condo where my grandparents lived for many years. We saw Jim Murphy who is a long time friend of The Govin's we sat down had some coffee sharing stories to Candace about the fond memories of the Winter Park area. As we said our good byes I gave Candace a tour of the Winter Park area from Tabernash to Winter Park seeing various mountains, shops and a cup of coffee where the first Safeway once stood. It was a real good trip as we hopped on our east bound Zephyr back to Denver where I photographed the train station at night . When Candace and I were talking on the way back ,we have decided to make this a once a month trip either by train or by car.
