Odd train on oregon trunk sub today,BNSF 2907 southbound,with what look like,steel coil cars.A very rare sight indeed due to the amount he's. pulling here.
Nice job getting that shot between the freeway and new housing developments. It took me a long time to figure out where it was! The vertical-format shot works well here!

This is indeed an empty coil train. I have seen the train before (a few months ago, heading North), and I think the BNSF was storing the cars somewhere along the Trunk. Also the locomotives pulling the train are assigned to local switching here in Central Oregon, including a daily local freight from Bend to Madras and back. This appears to be the return trip for the local, bringing back the stored cars for pickup by a mainline freight in Bend.
