Missouri Pacific Cabooses Still in Service on the UP System. Built in October 1981-January 1982 by MP shops at DeSoto, Mo. finished at MP shops in Sedalia, Mo.
My last visit to Fullerton station was beautiful. The sky put on a wonderful display. No HDR processing (only had one exposure of this one) but I did lighten the bottom up using selection and levels.
A busy day of switching and sorting cars at Meeker made for the impressive size train of emptys. 12 in all with a caboose on the rear carrying the brakeman while its conductor clicks a picture.
CN has an odd habit of placing cabooses where they don't belong. The Clavet wayfreight for instances uses CN 79924, assigned to train 519, yet there's no such train in the area.
Similarly this one is stamped "Scotford work train", yet based on my research Scotford is hundreds of...
At one time CN's Warman sub was a vital part of CN's system, providing the main link to Prince Albert. Although it still serves this purpose today, most of the line has been sold to a shortline, meaning its a lot less vital then it used to be.
Due to "strategic downtown...

Set up along side the front truck of BNSF 7558, SP 4049 can be seen as it and the other cabooses are spotted for public viewing at the Fullerton Railroad Days weekend.
BNSF's "Mill Job" switcher works the Amerigas Spur. The caboose was used to pilot a reverse move of about a mile. The picture was taken from the backyard of the house we were living in at the time.
Class N7-E built in 1969 for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad as their C-369
During Conrail, the caboose was assigned number 21169
When acquired by the Providence and Worcester, renumbered as
their 2116 by dropping the 9 -- today it carries number 5001
The caboose features a strobe warning...
CN 79837 (still on roster in '05) and CN 78108 (International Service) await to be cut-up into cans. Right behind them is a string of UP PS-2 hoppers, including CNW 753145, still with ROCK reporting marks stenciled underneath!

Illinois Central Gulf caboose #199422, Chicago, IL, July 6, 1984, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Here are a few comments by Dan Kohlberg:
ICG 199422 is part of a series of 50 cabooses built by the IC's own Centralia, Illinois, Carshops in 1972. These cabooses were unique to the IC, with their...
This photo shows a lot of history. You could look at the 87 year old Cascade Tunnel, or you could look at the old BN caboose that is entering the tunnel. This would be a typical scene only twenty years ago. This was a nice run in. A work train which is going to replace rails shoves into the tunnel.
CP has converted a number of old cabooses into MOW Transporters - notable for their white paint, rock-resistent windows and being spotted on work trains. Compare to this CP regular, standing across from hom, both have graffiti!

Until this year Sutherland had everything you'd want at the shops - a snowplow, TRACKMOBILE, switchers, etc. but still lacked a caboose.
On July 18th, this old cab came into town, and has been sitting at the shops ever since. He is most likely a Regina transfer, as they had three sitting...
