  1. Green Diamonds

    Green Diamonds

The evil army charges onward to a mine somewhere. The train is heading east, so they must be empty.
  2. A Second Chance

    A Second Chance

BNSF hoppers seem to migrate to northern Alberta on a regular basis, but this one stands out. Santa Fe 350346 appears fully intact, free of any patches or other things that symbolize the demise of the Santa Fe. Here we see him heading back east on CN 314. I caught this same car going north on...
  3. Repossession

    Repossession

CN appears to have claimed full owner ship to a fleet of the old Wheat Board cars.
  4. So Very Alone

    So Very Alone

This NAHX is the only one of it's kind in an otherwise solid block block of CN 388000 bathtubs.
  5. Reading and Northern Hoppers

    Reading and Northern Hoppers

Reading and Northern coal hoppers are on the 450. Concidering where these are coming from, I wouldent be surprised if they were pulling Coke from Lloydminster. But the cars say 'Domestic coal service', so I guess it's not so.
  6. SP 2-Bay Hopper

    SP 2-Bay Hopper

This SP 2-bay hopper is carry a load of gravel south past the Saginaw grain elevators on a warm summer's evening. I don't see many that look this good.
  7. A Hazy shade of Kangaroo?

    A Hazy shade of Kangaroo?

CN may not have Buffalo boxcars anymore, but there spirit lives on to a certain extent with Kangaroo hoppers! Note the small iconic 'Canadian Kangroo' decal. I would imagine these haul potash and such for export to Australlia.
  8. CN5444

    CN5444

Alot of old friends came to visit me today. Here we see CN 5444, which I have crossed paths with atleast 3 times. Behind the SD50 is an Illinois Central SD40-2R 6058. They took CN 450 into the hole to wait for an Westbound coal train.
  9. Brand new SOO hopper!

    Brand new SOO hopper!

SOO was purchased by CP years ago (1986?), since then SOO's proud name has been labelled on hundreds, if not thousands of rent-a-wreck obscure Lessor/Co-op/Shortline hoppers, most on their last leggs with former owner's names still showing. Looks like they finally got a good deal this time as...
  10. Pride of The Prairies -Almost...

    Pride of The Prairies -Almost...

And Saskatchewan grain car that is to some extent old and new. It's sad when such a fine fresh paint livery gets vandalized. SKNX 393720 jumps the fences at Riverview.
  11. CPWX now CP

    CPWX now CP

Lately both CN & CP have been taking the 'WX' out of the government owned hopper fleet, i.e. CPWX simply becomes CP as the patch on this hopper clearly shows. Of the 30 on this train I'd say about 1/4 were patched. Note the scorthed Earth in the foreground - result of grass fires.
  12. SOO 74347

    SOO 74347

Soo Line covered hopper in need of paint.
  13. Covered hopper

    Covered hopper

EFVM covered hopper class HFD at Nova Granja yard.
  14. It's all over

    It's all over

CNWX 106418, your typical Prarie hopper of yesterday, lies on its aside, atop a pile of PS-2 hoppers, incluidng a GCCX ex-SOO. Note the wrecking crane in the background.
  15. CN 840

    CN 840

2:20pm CN 840, 83 hoppers CN 5773-BCOL 752 He's waiting for a yellow @ Riverview, to follow 346, with 347 + MP188 yard switcher waiting to head West. Normally I'm not too exited about unit grain trains, as long as they're not hauling junk up front. But add a BCOL SD40-2 and it makes all...
  16. CTRW work train?

    CTRW work train?

Where in Canada can one find an ex-CN SLQ M420(W) with a mix of ex-CP & ex-CN ballast cars? HBR in North Manitoba and CTRW in North Saskatchewan naturally. Not sure how this train got to Montreal, must have taken a wrong turn somewhere LOL. Just love such museum scenes - as good as seing the...
  17. CNW & CP merger?

    CNW & CP merger?

They sure have joined forces, if you believe this hopper. At least half a dozen in the yard, most likely ex-EEC's or GCCX's, CP has had many ex-CNW PS-2's go through wearing those reporting marks, most still wearing CNW's logo and paint. This way when UP takes over, they'll get their old...
  18. ADM Railway

    ADM Railway

Although there's no such thing, one might think otherwise after visiting CN's mainline. A cut of 13 ADM ACF hoppers on a manifest. Maybe they're coming out of dead storage...
  19. CN 434-60

    CN 434-60

Recently I posted a photo of a CP hi-rail truck pulling two ballast hoppers: http://tinyurl.com/29gxgb This is CN's version of the same exercise, taken 3 years ago in Winnipeg (you can see the downtown skyline). Interstingly CP also had a PETTBONE Swingmaster at work that day, yet he wasn't the...
  20. New Sask hopper

    New Sask hopper

For a couple decades Saskatchewan's hopper fleet looked like this: http://tinyurl.com/35m8d3 (Chris Wilson's photo). Now they are being re-furbished and repainted into this new sheme. You eyes are not deceiving you, his twin is right behind him on this Vancouver, BC - Humbolt, SK unit grain train.
