Hello everyone I'm a new member here. I'm a huge Allis Chalmers fan and a lover of trains. I'm trying to identify this this switcher engine that the company owned in order to build a model for my collection. I have many other pictures of Allis company owned switcher engines if anyone is interested in seeing them I will post
That looks like a Whitcomb 65 tonner.
Thank you. I will look into that.

Did some looking. I dont believe it's a Whitcomb 65. The Whitcomb doesnt have the center ladder to climb in the cab or the amount of loovers in the hood
Wouldn't surprise me if AC built it. Didn't they buy Buda engines used in some locomotives?
It would be a good way to test engines in a real world situation.

Yes they did buy buda and I know they built alot of electric stuff used in the railroad one way or another. It's very possible that they built it themselves.
I would say its a shop built switcher as it doesn't match any of the characteristics of the major locomotive builders of the time. I would love to see more pictures of their plant engines if you have them!
I've seen the six wheel center depressed AC flat cars but the CNW or CMSTP&P were switching at small yard off Burnham st. in early 1980's on the belt line between CNW's Mitchell yard and Milw's Muskego yard.
