SD40-2 5082 heads East approaching Mahoney road. Take Illinois route 83 South from I-55, make a left turn on 61st street and head East until you see Mahoney road. Turn right until the road ends and you have a picture perfect spot for photos any time during the day.
Back in the "good old days" you could drive right up to the tower at Corwith Yard on Chicago's near south side walk up the stairs, ask for a release and if you followed the rules and respected the privilege of being there, you were welcome to take pictures anywhere the rules allowed...
Not often seen out our way, BNSF GP15-1 1489 is serviced and ready to go. Delivered new in September 1977 as the Frisco 114, it would be nice if it was still orange and white.
BNSF Warbonnet 768 awaits its next assignment at the BNSF 1st Street Loco Service Facility in Newton, Kansas. One of Santa Fe's first C44-9W's, it still retains most of it's 1997 livery.

Traveled to Ft. Madison Iowa from Chicago June 22, 1983 for "A day in the West". This was the first engine I saw as we pulled into the yard at sunrise. Kodachrome's have been my favorite scheme ever since.
This TOFC train is passing a private duck hunting club as it approaches the bridge crossing the Illinois River just East of Chillicothe, Illinois. Just a few miles West it will climb Edelsiein Hill, rounding Houlihan curve. (I hope I got the spelling correct on those!)
This train has just passed the Willow Springs Yard and is accelerating to track speed, heading West. This spot is now the Western end of the huge Western Springs UPS TOFC yard.
