Union Pacific SD90/43MAC at Bena,California

Here's the Union Pacific 8030 an SD90/43MAC at Bena, California on 3/15/03 (on the Tehachapi line). This is actually on a southbound (going up grade) BNSF train, as you can see by the next unit back but had two Union Pacific locomotives on the point. They were waiting here to let another BNSF train go around them. Just on the other side of the tracks is the Bena Corals, a cattle feed lot. The smell was delightful. Took pictures of all the units and the other train that passed them and then took on off up the hill to catch this train at tunnel number two. Smelled a lot better up there.
Interesting to note that Union Pacifics almost biggest locomotive (their only remaining DDA40X is bigger) has the smallest nose herald. No wings, no flag.
The SD90's are a little rare over the Tehachapi's, it's nice to see one every once in a while. Have never seen more than one of them on a train. Would like to see three of them tackling the grades of Tehachapi.
