Rail pick up train

Rail pick up train

One of CPR's two rail pick up trains at work on the Windermere sub in eastern British Columbia. The steel gang had finished laying new rail and this train was sent in to pick up the reuseable rail for use in sidings and other lower density mainlines. This rail was headed somewhere in New York state.
I drove all over the place there last summer trying to find some scenic access to the tracks in the Fairmont area and couldn't find anything good.

Must be nice to be able to park your train and get your shot!!!! :)
