Prairie High Speed

VIA #2 rolls across the South Saskatchewan with three classic F40PH-2s powering the long train. Now that there's only a dozen un-rebuild units left, this may be the last time to see them. Aside from deadheads, three F40s will no longer be seen on VIA as the rebuilt units provide more power.

Two days later I catch AMTK #8, the Empire Builder, 300 miles south approaching Harlem, MT. With the demise of the real VIA #2 'Canadian' through Thunder Bay, Regina & Calgary over 20 years ago, this is now the closest trans-continental passenger train, thus worth comparing to.
