Pros: Excellent autofocus reaction time. Manual override of AF is seamless.
Cons: Huge, heavy lens. Made even more so with the lens shade in place.

Perhaps the most useful range for rail work, this lens allows the photographer a degree of flexibility in choosing a location. Very handy for shooting across a road for example.

Silent Wave AF provides excellent performance in fast changing autofocus conditions. Teamed with dynamic AF tracking makes for an unbeatable combination.

Mounting one of these on an F5 or F6 makes for a handful of camera to deal with. Include the "flower" lens shade and you have something that will attract unwanted attention from all manner of curious people.

One highly negative aspect of my particular lens was the development of an electrical short in the lens CPU. That allowed straight battery current to flow back to the AF computer on my new F6, killing it. Cost to repair everything? $725+ !!!!
