Pros: Easy to use and understand, good feel to it.
Cons: Does not have audio video capturing or automatic sensor cleaning.

A more experienced photographer would be able to nitpick this camera better than I, as, my last camera was a Sony Mavica with 640 x 480 resolution, so naturally the D80 is going to seem like a miracle camera after using that old Mavica. All I know is that I just love this camera and so far it meets or exceeds all my amateur photog needs. My brother let me use his new Canon EOS Rebel XTi, which would have been my second choice, but I thought the D80 was just a little better overall. The camera body was $999 and does not include any lenses.

Pros: Extremely fast shutter lag
Cons: Rubber cover over USB/DC/Video ports

This is my first DSLR and I have only had it for about three weeks. I am still learning a lot of the features, but so far, it is everything that I was looking for in a DSLR. The two features that struck me most were how fast it start up and the shutter lag is so fast I do not even notice it.

The viewfinder is excellent, and the diopter adjustment allows me shoot with my glasses, something I was a little concerned about since my eyes are not what they used to be. It does not have live view, but I prefer using the viewfinder anyway. I have not had any problems viewing my shots in the LCD, even in bright sunlight. The manual is one of the better camera manuals I have read, and I have found it very helpful.

I am using the Nikkor VR 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 G ED, which is a great walk around lens. I have been able to get good hand held shots at 1/15 second. I primarily shoot aperture priority, and the metering system is very good.

I also bought a Speedlight SB600 and have taken a few wireless remote flash shots. More than just a neat trick, it gives you a lot of options to get indoor flash shots that look like ambient lighting.

I highly recommend this camera.

Well... I just got this camera as an anniversary gift. It's not even out of the box yet. So... we'll see how it works out. I also got an extra 55-300mm telephoto lens.
