I bought this to fill a emergency need when my Canon L failed. Was I ever supprised it preformed as well as my 70-200 2.8 L did. It even felt more balanced on my 40D than the L did. If it only had IS.
I did try it with a sigma 2x extender with terriable results. I believe it was bad extender not a lense issue.
It is good enough that after a year I have not sent the L off for repair.
