Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe F-7 #41C, Colorado Springs, CO, August 20, 1964, photo by Chuck Zeiler

I marked the slide "special train", so I cannot say for sure what train this is. This particular locomotive was built September 1949 (c/n 8310) on order E-1216 as the rear cab of the 41L, 41A, 41B, 41C, A-B-B-A locomotive set. There is the letter C just above the buffer plate, which is just above the coupler. This entire locomotive set was involved in a wreck at Robinson, NM on September 5, 1956. All four units were rebuilt. The #41C was traded to EMD in 1969, thus never became a CF-7.

Santa Fe ... to me the color combination scheme that was made for a F unit!
