A majority are named by their crews. It's not uncommon to see any military equipment thats named... Also of intersting note, the 3 axle trucks look articulated

These appear to be M1A-1 Abrams going to Lima for refit to M1A-2 standards. The old locomotive works there had the machinery needed to basically do a frame-off renovation of the tanks. Great photo

Looks to me like they're already M1A2s. The tower on the far side of the turret (to the right in the picture) is the CITV, the main visible feature of the A2.
Nice shot, either way.
