"9F" class 2-10-0 on Passenger"

users gallery
Summer of 1960....Llandudno Junction, North Wales. This 'work-worn' 2-10-0 (though not old) is seen hauling a 'Summer Excursion' train from the English Midlands to the Welsh Sea-side Resorts. These locomotives were capable of running at very high speeds on such trains, though 'officially' frowned upon! (e.g. 90mph attained on the old "G.C" line). Several examples also were used on regular Passenger trains on the "S & DJR"....including "The Pines Express". A 'nickname' amongst railway folk for these engines included the term 'Spaceships!' Several examples preserved in running-order.
