Yup it's back. John Crosby and I have decided that it is time to revive this thread and see where it goes. Like the original I decided to start it off with the same photos of MILW 156 EAST at Renton, WA on April 27, 1977 on which John is the brakeman, though of course at the time I didn't know it! A series of internet events on the MILW Yahoo group some time ago would tie these photos and John together and would things expand from there! Hopefully this thread will be as fun and informative as the original.

1) Train #206 left Renton about 10:30am that morning and is seen here east of Renton.
2) Again along the Maple Valley Highway. 3) Just west of Maple Valley, WA. 4) And curving out of Maple Valley, WA headed for Snoqualmie Pass. That is Highway 18 in the background. Brian |

Brian and I separately shot the same pix but never saw each other. I was head brakeman on this train. We are eastbound from Tacoma to Othello (208 miles, our crew change point). Here we are waiting at the end of double track in Renton, Wash., for a meet. The meet probably took close to an hour and I had time to dismount and take some shots. This opportunity did not often occur because the life on the Coast Division was generally an all night affair.

When you study the last pix, you will see that it is exactly the same as one of Brian's pix above. Notice the relationship of the white house in the background. It is canny.

It's back I see! Haven't caught any new MILW's since, but will repost my best shots eventually.
PS. Glad to see you back. |

Laid back Engineer Bob Bernik. We are probably five or six hours on duty at this point, around noon. Note the time book indicates that we died at Smyrna, west of Othello.
Brian, do you have the time of these shots? John |

Your departure from Renton was at 10:27am and by Maple Valley at 10:56am. I was back at Black River at 11:21am for the Coast Starlight and then up to Argo about noon. So I would say somewhere between 10:00 and 10:27 at Renton for our shots. Brian |

Brian, did you see this track car at Renton? It was parked north of the mains. I took this while waiting for the meet. Maybe this was when you were on the other side.
Russian, welcome back. Looking forward to future rolling ghosts. John |

Your ex-MILW freight car shots are welcome here Russian. Especially as we see so few of them here in the PNW. Brian |
