Work and other things has conspired to keep me from railfanning much. Now with fall colors nearing their peak I've been chomping at the bit wanting to get out and capture the railroads with the great color. Originally I was supposed to work most of the day, the the Steam Plant delayed on dumping the coal train till later, so I spent most of the afternoon fighting the stormy weather while railfanning. I ended up getting really lucky and only got cloud-skunked just once. I captured the M-EVEPAS a couple of times, and a it had a BCR C40-8M trailing. I also photographed the first SD40-2 leading a train that I've seen in a long time. The sound of two SD70M's charging through Ostrander was wonderful as well, as most of the trains we see up here in the PNW are powered by GE's.

I wasn't too impressed with the colors between Centralia and Winlock, but from Vader on south the color improved vividly. I'm going to look at the Nisqually area tomorrow.

Nice shooting and great light. Just a correction though Ted, that BC Rail unit is actually classified as a C40-8M.

Seems like if you can get any shots these days with a cantelever in them, you should do it before they're all gone. Nice shots.

Great shots. The rains up here are knocking a lot of the leaves off the trees before they reach their full autumn colors.
Don't be afraid to take photos when it is overcast. I sometimes think overcast conditions really bring out the bright yellows of autumn.
