Default PSAP Grain Train with KCS/TFM Power

On the morning of February 16th Robert Scott called to tell me about a PSAP grain train that was heading our way and would be on the PSAP that afternoon. But that was still a while off and the weather was blah, so neither of us went out to find the train. The next morning the weather was great, but it didn't appear that there was much moving on the Seattle Sub (which is typical for Wednesday). We decided to take advantage of the weather and see what we could find. We didn't make it far when we found a the grain train on the move westbound just outside of Rochester. This was the grain train that should have gone through the previous evening. And better yet, the two BNSF CW44-9's had been pulled off in Centralia leaving just the TFM SD70MAC and a KCS AC4400 as sole power on the train!
So we quickly whipped a U turn and spent the rest of the day chasing the train to Aberdeen. Here are many of my own pics from the chase.

Great shots Ted! I love that consist of KCS and TFM units. That is quite a rare find in the Pacific northwest.

Great stuff Ted. Those KCS units sure do look a little out of place up there in you guys' area. Nice catch.

Great shots as always Ted. Thanks for posting them. Quick question - when setting out the grain in Aberdeen, is this west of the yard, or into the yard? Also, where did the power off the grainer go? Is it used to pull an eastbound, or does it run light power back to Centralia?

Thanks again!

Nice shots Ted!

Auburnrails-I'm guessing it took an eastbound grain train from Aberdeen. The next day after Ted caught these guys on the PSAP, I saw them come south through Winlock on the Seattle Sub. Unfortunetly I did not have a camera with me.

That would make sense if one was waiting to go.

Thanks!
