I haven't done as much railfanning as I would have like, partly because every time it seem I had some time to go railfanning, it was cloudy and I put it off. In fact it was so cool and rainy this August that I was starting to wonder if the Polar Bears might consider expanding their summer territory southward (ok, so maybe it wasn't THAT cold). But the weather broke somewhat here recently and I've been making several local trips out and about, but haven't posted much. So without further adieu, here is the recent stuff.
#1. M-FIHK just south of the Cowlitz River bridge. #2. Same train in reverse curves between Castle Rock and Ostrander. #3. Talgo substitute train northbound at Castle Rock. Should've watched my shadows there more closely. #4. Another Cascades substitute southbound between Longview and Kalama.

9. Loaded coal grinding upgrade at Winlock.
10. Cresting the grade at Evaline. 11. UP's APL stack train on the glide, about to go into dynamics for the grade ahead. Another one of those times I should have watched the shadows.

12. The other day I went looking for some overlooks in the Seattle area and found this cool one along Blue Ridge Way.
13. I do find some irony standing next to the waters of the Pacific Ocean, and yet have a rugged mountain range between the sunset and myself. 14. Plenty of people were on the walkway over the tracks at Carkeek Park enjoying both the sunset and the trains! 15. Amtrak #14 arriving at Seattle. Starbucks world HQ at left, Space needle is center-left, and downtown is at right.

Awesome as usual! Somehow this was a slow railfanning summer for me as well.
