Default After the Chaos....

....more chaos. Trains started running again this afternoon. Even though it looked as though BNSF could easily reopen main #2 Wednesday night, it appears that BNSF waited to start running trains until both mains were open. Otherwise the single track from Plumb to Pioneer would have been very much a bottleneck while delaying the reopening of main #1.

Why can't the engineer be electrocuted?
Because he's not a conductor!

Everything got rather jammed up as nearly all the trains started running at once. I've been out railfanning in the aftermath of a derailment cleanup before, but I've never seen a railroad get running again so quickly.

There were plenty of Amtrak trains caught in the flood of freight trains as well. The real surprise was a Sounder unit leading a Talgo Cascades northbound. Unfortunately a could shadow ruined the shot on the Nisqually River Bridge. In fact cloud shadows proved to be very frustrating.

I stood on more than a few busy overpasses this afternoon. Since the Seattle Sub has a limited few crossing, most of the trackside access happens to be from above the tracks. But the elevation can be useful for getting above the brush and trees that limit the view from a level crossing.

I saw SDRX 907 This morning. So it is already back in Seattle and is on another unit.
