Exclamation 2nd Annual Tracks in the Snow Event

There was a pretty good turnout yesterday for an event that was only promoted with a couple e-mails. I slept in this morning so I'm headed back out to meet the day 2 crew, but I wanted to get the thread started to help get the report going!

A few from yesterday with my new lens.

1. The Eastbound Z at Meritt.

2. The Z at Winton.

Wait a minute.....

Is that the sun shining on those units and burning through the fog? You mean you got photos whithout getting soaked to the skin hiking in the falling snow/rain/sleet?

What's the point?

Seriously, good shots guys...hope you had fun.

Give me a call next year, so long as it promises to be terrible weather the day you go up and we stay to the back country.

Default 2nd Annual Tracks in the Snow Event

Unfortunately I was not able to enjoy the festivities of the second day but here are some of my efforts from the first day.

1. Amtrak 161 leads #7 at Goldbar

2. BNSF 1050 leads the EB Z-SSECHC2 at Winton. Note the H2 letters on the H1 paint scheme.

3. The EB Z again between Cashmere and Wenatchee at whats been referred to as the "Calendar Shot".

4. GM 72 was the unit that ended up in the Colorado River on the UP. They've done a pretty nice job cleaning up the damage.

Default 2nd Annual Tracks in the Snow Event

5. Just after the head end of the Q-DENTAC1 passed by, the horse carriage pulled by the Draft horses came trotting along. Evergreen in the evergreens!

6. Different angle of the V-LPCPTL8 across the farmers field.

7. Dale and Rosco messing with the snow on the bridge at "The Slot"

8. Dale practicing his Karate Kid moves on the snow.

Even for the lack of trains I think everyone did really well, the sun was shining, the snow was glistening and there was even sleigh rides available. Almost like it was a Winter Wonderland! I look forward to seeing everyone else's hard work.

Dale - Your foggy sunrise shot is awesome! Reminds me of how warm the sun felt that day.

Drew - Pretty good timing with your J-train shot. As always I'm glad you joined us. There are few with your knowledge of locations and paint schemes.

AJ - I won't give it away, but I see why you're coming back for the pic along the Wenatchee. We've seen this shot before, but not with your forethought.

We'll have to see if we can get Mr. Steve Carter to join up with the land of the free.......
