Default Seattle 12-06-06

Drew Mitchem invited me along to go catch the UP 1996 heritage unit in Seattle since it didn't appear that the locomotive was going to be leading any trains in daylight. We found the unit laying over at Argo yard ready to lead south again, but it wouldn't leave before daylight. We wandered around town seeing what was to be seen.

1. UP 1996 at Argo Yard

2. SSEACHC at Stacy Street Yard.

3. A inbound stack train coming out from under downtown Seattle at the King Street Station.

Why can't the engineer be electrocuted?
Because he's not a conductor!

4. While wandering around Interbay, I spotted this woman painting the diesel facility and north end of the yard from the overpass.

5. Another stack train heading toward North Portal and the Seattle docks.

6. A grain traing heading to the grain export facility near Interbay.

1.# 7 was about an hour down...with this unit leading.....
2. S-CHCTAC passing King Street Station
3. UP 1996 in some nice low light at the engine facility.....this was about a half an hour before we drove by the engine again and spotted BN 6363 driving away after getting his photos...the mystery of that sticker continues!!

Speaking of coming out of the fog, as I decended Pengra Pass north of Pryor, I rounded the bend and through the sleepy haze in my eyes from lack of sleep, I noticed a flock, wait, a gaggle of Foamers at the Roberts Ranch Road crossing between Oakridge & Pryor. I knew then and there that I was receiving the ultimate roll-by. The trip was good. Then I had to pick up the roadforeman.
