Just found out he passed away this afternoon at 1:30 PM, according to Donald Tallman of the Colorado Railroad Museum. Here's my post. ND Holmes has a mini-biography on his site.

I'm glad I attended the Richard Kindig day event at the Colorado Railroad Museum where Dick Kindig was honored -- just last month. The photo shows Kindig saying a few words of thanks with museum director Donald Tallman holding the microphone. That is Ronald Hill in the background.

This is very sad to know, although we all knew it would happen sooner than later. I too feel privilaged that I had a chance to meet Dick and shake his hand.
Goodbye, Mr. Kindig, may God bless you and keep you and may all the signals be green forever.

I've enjoyed his photos for years and have many, many, many books that include his work. Although this is a sad occasion, what is really nice, is that Dick had the opportunity attend a well deserved recognition of his work and contribution to railroad history, at the museum and surrounded by lot's and lot's of friends and trains.
