Default Fairport & Lyons New York

While spending the month of October working in upstate New York, I was able to squeeze in a few hours track side. The traffic through this area was great. On average, a train every 15-20 minutes. While a CSX line, there was a lot of Amtrak, UP, BNSF and leaser power. Overall, a great trip. Wish I could have spent more time track side. Ken, Thanks for the info on Fairport. Here are a few from Fairport.

It's a perfect day in the Fairport area. CSX crews are working on the crossovers east of Fairport, traffic is pretty slow and steady through the area. Eastbound mixed freights have been sitting on the West shore for long periods. The Lyndon Road bridge is an ideal spot to watch the action.

Please don't say the sun is shining. I think it was sunny only one day and I did not see rain only 2 days during the month. Fairport was a great place to watch and the pizza place on the corner was outstanding. I will be headed back at some point.

It is very sunny for a change and little chilly though. I just got back, went down to take some photos and never checked the camera batteries. Two new CSX ES44's sitting waitng on the WestShore heading east and MOW equipment all over the place. Whipped out the camera, DEAD!

Yup apparently we are getting too much rain last few months... I thought that they would quit... but mother nature dont think that she had enough...

In fact, I woke up with nice sunrise this morning and went to work.

And I came back home with ground covered with SNOW!!!! There wasn't snow on ground at work, 15 minutes from my home!

you can find them, using google map.

Fairport's east of Rochester. Lyon is somewhat in middle of Rochester - Syracuse.

It was nice to know that I escaped before the snow arrived. It is far too early for snow.
