The Kobe Rapid Railway is a subway in Japan that runs through the center of Kobe city. It is 7.6km long, has 6 stations, yet owns no rolling stock. Four railways use the subway; the Kobe Elect. Ry, the Sanyo Elect. Ry, the Hanshin Elect. Ry and the Hankyu Elect. Ry.
The Kobe Rapid Railway is a 3rd sector company, 50% owned by the city of Kobe and the other 50% owned by the four railways using the subway. A note of interest. The Hanhsin and Hankyu have merged, effective today, October 1, 2006, making it the third largest railway in Jpan. ![]()
