Thread: Cumbres & Toltec - From The Air

  1. Default Cumbres & Toltec - From The Air

The title pretty much says it all. - After many years of line side filming the first efforts with a drone. Gosh, Cumbres & Toltec country is spectacular. Make sure you watch all the way to the end - It's only 5 minutes long - for a clip that didn't go so well.

Did you find the drone? Drones open up a whole new avenue of rail photography for the hobbyist as it is no longer necessary to charter a helicopter for aerial shots.

I wish I could afford to hire a helicopter, none the less an interesting question. Over the month I was in New Mexico last September early October, my views changed. The first footage I filmed was the normal miles in the air stuff, but slowly I realised there was so much more that could be done. In effect a drone is a mobile tripod. With a bit of thought it allowed me to get a camera into locations that for all sorts of reason I couldn't.
