Default Railroad History Question - Civil War era tracks

Hi - I am new to the group and just purchased a used model - MPCs "The General", a 1/25 scale 4-4-0 locomotive. The profile of the rail appears a bit unrealistic for the 1864 time. Does anyone have knowledge of track construction in the South in the early 1860s, specifically roadbed and rail height (profile) and material? Thanks

Matthew Brady photographed the Civil War. I suggest you do an internet search of his name to look for his photos of railroads of the Civil War.
