All of the vertical beams are in down to the south end of the track 7 platform. They still have to install some vertical beams at the very north section that will form a canopy from King Street Station to the track 7 platform. There is such a confusing mess in the ground there that has not changed in weeks leads me to assume that something is either wrong with the work there or it's not in the schedule to finish that until much later. Looks like at least four vertical beams will be needed and I found two locations where they will install two of them.

All of the switch machines and signals are installed for all of the new crossovers and other new track work and now they have to wire them up. They were digging a trench for wiring the northbound signal on the wash rack lead this morning as I was bringing my train into the Amtrak yard.

They are actively installing the canopies aluminum covering sections north of the Weller Street overpass and are almost done. Work is progressing with the electrical conduit work on the north portion not yet started and vertical steel beams are staged alongside track 6 up there. All of the horizontal supports are installed on the south end and they have opened up about 80% of track 6 for use by Amtrak.

Timeline for cutting back in CTC at King Street is February 11-12. We'll see how that goes.

They have removed the power box that was partially blocking the access to the new ramp on track 7 on the north end. At that location, there are two large temporary generators providing power while they are running lots of conduit and cabling under where the walk between the station and track 7 will occur. They are about 30% done on the canopy coverings on the south side of the Weller street pedestrian overpass. No change of the cut in date, yet for CTC.

Finally made it to downtown Seattle to see the progress. Here are some photos from what BNSFEng mentioned.

The new canopy along Track 7 looks really nice. The architect did a great job matching the design of the other canopies. This is looking south.

They have installed all of the new light poles in south along the fence line with Century Link Field and also removed all of the old fencing there and are working to replace it with higher, more secure fencing the entire length of the track 7 platform on down to Royal Broughman Street. The canopy is about 75% complete now.

The track seven (King Street Track 9 on February 27th) canopy is complete on the south end. The last vertical beams are installed on the north end with the main horizontal support beams. The fence with Century Link Field is installed, except for the two strands of barbed wire on the top of it, south of the canopy. Work progresses slowly on the new power box and all of the underground electrical conduit. This has to be completed before they can put concrete over the conduit and then complete the canopy on the north end connecting it with the station.

Is the CTC still going live tomorrow? I was going to go down there, but with all service cancelled due to slides, there won't be much traffic.

Information from Tuesday, the 14th, since I took Wednesday off and we didn't run yesterday. They are installing the lighting fixtures under the new canopy on track 7. They are not tube fluorescent lights like the rest of the canopies but round fixtures spaced every 30 feet or so. I suspect the lights will be an LED type but no bulbs were seen, yet. At the north end, they have poured the concrete covering 99% of the conduit and had a grid of rebar ready for the top layer for the walkway onto the platform for track 7 from the station. They installed all the horizontal beams to support the aluminum canopy there, too, except for one. The power box walls were starting to take shape. They are going to have one gate down on the platform approximately across from the Northeast Ticket area at Century Link Field. They haven't done anymore fencing work but plenty left to do.

Like Mark said cutover, after we are gone with our Sounder trains, begins on Friday the 24th so when we bring trains down on Monday morning, the 27th, we will be facing CTC signals that actually work.

I'm coming down this afternoon to rescue train A1706 that didn't make it back to Everett on Wednesday evening. This will get everything back up to Everett for Monday morning, but heavy rain is again is in the forecast for Saturday thru Tuesday.

So now all of the horizontal beams are installed and they have fully installed all of the light fixtures south of Weller St overpass but they need to be wired. The top layer of concrete was installed over the area with the rebar but they are not yet done covering up on area of conduit and some access hatches to some underground items at the very north end of the new canopy. This area may need to be completed before they install the rest of the roof of the canopy, otherwise, they would be trying to stretch the vertical lifts too far sideways making them unstable. The power box floor concrete is installed but looking at the whole area closer, it may be the foundation for a prefab building with a few long rebar just sticking up . Currently, they are digging a long trench right next to the new platform, installing black layered material and putting a drain pipe onto it. They had dug and installed pipe more than half way along the platform as of yesterday.
