    Continuing from page 186.

As 4001 was departing, 4354 was visible in the background.

As 4354 continued to sit, a short train with two GP60B's in the consist passed Picnic Pt.

A light engine hop, probably the Gold Bar Turn returning north, passed 4354.

Southbounds 4353, the short freight, and the oil tanker were stacked up waiting for the afternoon passenger parade, which consists of the 4:30, 5:00, 5:30, and 6:00pm Sounders as well as the 5:12pm Chicago bound Empire Builder (Amtrak #8) and the 7:17pm Vancouver, BC bound Cascades (Amtrak #516). My son and I left for home as we had no idea when the dispatcher could clear the freights through the two mile stretch of single track from MP 18 to MP 16 in between passenger trains.

The evening Seattle-Vancouver, BC Cascades (Amtrak #516) was late, but I was still able to photograph it against the last remnants of sunset.

Tuesday (9/19/19) an oil tanker came to a complete stop south of the Dayton St. crossing and waited a few minutes before heading through town. It came to a stop once again just north of MP 18 to wait for track work going on farther north.

You can see the lights of a piece of MoW equipment in the distance.

Shots from Wednesday (9/20/17) on Sunset Ave. The ballast train shown on the Mile Post 17 thread had continued north where it met a southbound (tt/west) local.

The local met some MoW equipment at MP 18. It was nearly 3:00pm, so I suspect the work crew was heading to tie up at the Edmonds spur before the arrival of the afternoon passenger parade.

The last cars of the local (Gold Bar Turn?) were Boeing bunker cars.

The signals indicated more trains were on the way, but my son and I left for home.

Ballast trains continue to travel back and forth north of Seattle along Puget Sound. Here is a northbound (tt/east) Thursday morning (9/21/17). Looks can be confusing with an engine on each end. The train was traveling away from me as I was photographing it. The ferry in the background is the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry.
