Great set of photos Bill. Nebraska has been pretty quiet weather wise this year. As long as Yellowstone doesn't blow up, I think we'll make it till winter.

Then I expect some good photos of autumn foliage from the Omaha Posse. I doubt we will have a pretty autumn up here as we are having a very dry summer. It is our third successive "California" summer: no rain, dirty air, and dried up lawns.

Wildfires east of the Cascades are producing heavy smoke in the Puget Sound region, which in turn is causing spectacular sunsets. Labor Day evening (9/4/17) my son and I went down to Ocean Ave. to take sunset photos when the Vancouver, BC bound evening Cascades sneaked up on us. I had the camera set on Av mode and it took these photos at 1/50 sec. I'll do what I always do with screwed up photos: call them "artsy" shots.

Photographing trains has taken a back seat to photographing a rare bird that has been in the area for over a week. For those interested, scroll down page 19 and continue on to page 20 for photos and details.

A member who makes virtual rail-fanning videos is seeking information on BNSF trains using Stevens Pass. Some of you who follow this thread also monitor rail traffic over Stevens Pass via that railfan radio-computer network. If you can help, please respond to this thread:

Monday afternoon (9/11/17) several southbound (tt/west) freights got stacked up at MP 18. I suspect it was due to maintenance windows as several pieces of MoW equipment were headed to Edmonds to clear the tracks before the afternoon passenger parade.

First up was 6552, which rolled through town without stopping.

Hot on the heels of 6552 was 4001. You could see a third southbound in the background.

4001 paused briefly before starting back up and continuing south.
