    Default Pity Mile Post 17

Located at the entrance to the Edmonds off leash dog beach, MP 17 has always lived in the shadow of its more glamorous and reknown older sister, MP 18.

I probably shouldn't ask, but what is "pecker beach"?

The RoW through the doggie beach has been staked out. Work was supposed to have begun this year, but word trackside is that it was removed from BNSF's 2009 budget.

I have head that the cars on the summer afternoon Sounders lean towards the beach when passing MP 16.

The Goldbar Turn passed through Edmonds on its way to Richmond Beach as my son and I were taking bird photos in the marsh east of the BNSF mainline near Mile Post 17. I thought you fans of second generation EMD power and Cascade Green would like the reflection of the units in the water.

Today my son and I were at the walkway on the north side of Edmonds taking bird photos. I heard a northbound train and snapped this photo of its headlights reflected in the water of the stream which drains the marsh. The engine is pretty close to MP 17 in this photo.

Funny. We had a spot on the Port of Tillamook Bay known as Beaver Beach, I'd guess largely for the same reason. (Or the exact opposite, perhaps?)
