    Default Old Saybrook, CT

At the Amtrak station in Old Saybrook, CT you'll find 3 railroads visiting throughout the day - Amtrak, CT-DOT's Shore Line East and Providence & Worcester. The station is located just off of I-95 - follow the signs, it is well marked from the highway exits (Exit 67 for northbound, Exit 68 for southbound). Right next to the station is also a plaza with a number of restaurants (pizza, Chineese and a couple others). Down the street is a Burger King and Dunkin' Donuts, and even a Wal-Mart.

    Times of what you'll see:
    Overnight - Sporadic Amtrak
All day - Amtrak, including Acelas - both local and express (track speed through the station is 85MPH, so the Acelas fly!)
5am - 10am - Shore Line East, which is CT's commuter line along the shore
Noonish - Providence & Worcester has two freight trains meet at the station area to swap cars and so some switching. NR-2 (Plainfield, CT to Old Saybrook) and NH-1 (New Haven, CT to Old Saybrook) arrive in the 11am-noon timeframe, and usually leave around 1pm.
    4pm-8pm - Shore Line East

Here's a few pix from around the station area (clicking will bring you to a larger version over on my site - www.nanosphoto.com )
