Down to Randy's Roundhouse in Lincoln for some model RR stuff. Herzog truck running along the track on the way to Lincoln. Window must have opened up as there were a bunch of trains on the way back. Then because they were all piled up at Ashland we went up to the Iron Horse clubhouse and saw a train coming from the north on the Sioux City sub. Just a great spring day.

(Clarification, it was 6016 x 4000 when I uploaded it, the forum re-sizes them to 1600 pixels maximum dimension upon upload, so it's nowhere near that big now.)

I went out to record some evening sounds since it was quiet and no wind. Saw these at East River on the BNSF west of Pacific Junction IA. Thanks Bob for the ease of photo download. You are AMAZING!!

I heard a track warrant for CN 5444 east at about 11:05. Followed to just east of Missouri Valley Iowa. I would have gone farther but I got caught in Mo. Valley waiting for the UP. CGW101c tells me there is a road that avoids Hwy 30. Next time.

Spent some time last week at Gretna Nebraska. Sometimes BN will run trains on the Omaha line. There were 4 in an hour, that was a good day.

Due to a vehicle fire just east of the road crossing at MP 474.3 on the Bayard Sub the 2702 stopped short of the crossing to allow emergency vehicles access. First pic is the train coming from Council Bluffs. Second is stopped by the crossing.

The hills in the background of the first photo looks like they might be colorful in the fall.

There are quite pretty in the fall. The "Bluffs" run along the river way down into Missouri. Depending on the weather they can be very colorful for long distances.

Genesis #183 has the same mud splattered windshield as #74 had last Wednesday (5-23-18) when I photographed it leading the Seattle bound Empire Builder through Edmonds.

Got out today to get licorice for my 95 year old father. The candy store happens to be in Greenwood, NE. Caught what think is LINLIN on the way back. Traffic hindered the picture on the Platte river bridge. So I took the next bridge. A quick trip to Gretna with impeding doom in the sky. #4 is kinda Itsed like don't you think. Pictures done, the sky opened up with heavy rain and wind as I tried for some lightning shots . Lasted for about 20 minutes. Temp on the car dropped from 93 to 75. Don't worry it came back up and the humidity went up too.

The College World Series has had rain delays because of lightning near the stadium.

Monday the Skyfari ride at the zoo stopped early because of lightning. We finished the trains switching duties in a downpour, which actually felt really good after being inside the engine all day. I think it rained because we washed one of the engines.

Not enough people braving the heat to warrant running 2 trains, the 119 is all shined up but nowhere to go.

No question that the BNSF 662_4 would be an Image of the Day on trainorders. That is a great shot. Which lens and what were the settings?

Tamron 28 -300mm zoom on a Nikon. ISO 640 1/1000 f7.1 +0.3 exposure comp. Lens at 300mm. No crop on the picture. Sharpened slightly in Nikon NX software.
