We have an on-going thread about the changes in Vancouver, WA.

I thought it might be interesting for folks to see the final product. Here's a link to the Port of Vancouver website with details on the work.

[h=1]WEST VANCOUVER FREIGHT ACCESS[/h]The West Vancouver Freight Access (WVFA) project is a concerted effort by the Port of Vancouver USA to create jobs and generate economic benefit by investing in freight rail infrastructure. Construction began in 2007 and is nearly complete, improving the ability to move freight not only through the port but also along the BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad mainlines that connect the Pacific Northwest to major rail hubs in Chicago and Houston, and from Canada to Mexico.

Projected to reduce current delays in rail traffic by as much as 40 percent, the project will lower costs for U.S. manufacturers and farmers, making them more competitive in global markets.

For a glimpse of what the largest capital project in the port’s history will look like when complete in 2017, check out one of our “look-into-the-future” videos.

Travel begins at what will be the new rail entrance to the port near the City of Vancouver’s Columbia Waterfront Development project and continues west along the port’s expanding rail corridor, through port property, to a loop track at Terminal 5. Throughout, you’ll see the backbone of tracks that will reduce congestion on the region’s rail system and better serve current and future tenants, making them more competitive and set to grow.
