This thread relates to our sister website, ModelRailroadForums.com. Updates to Railroadforums.com have already been completed.

We plan to start the upgrades of ModelRailroadforums.com late tonight, barring any last minute issues. We'll begin posting updates when the work starts.

The upgrade work has begun as planned. We're currently migrating the forum messages. 400K of them. This is going to take a while. (Possibly 2 to 3 days, maybe longer)

So far, so good. As I mentioned above, this is going to take a while with 400,000 messages and 40K images. The databases have to be migrated and then the new forum software has to integrate each one into it's database which uses an entirely different system than the old one.

In model railroaders terms, we're converting the entire layout to DCC, installing Kadee couplers on every car, replacing brass track with nickel silver, and upgrading the layout benchwork, all at the same time.

And we're about 12 hours in. So far the process is going well. The database migration is nearly done, now we begin integrating the data with the new forum software.

Oh, sorry, thought I’d posted here. Guess it was in the coffee shop thread. It’s back up and running, we were back yesterday afternoon, went much quicker than expected.
