Uknown piece or rail from my great grandfather

Not sure if correct forum.
Does anyone know what is this? Great grandfather gave me when I was a teen. Looks like a piece of cut out rail?

Dimensions:
Total height 4 1/8"
Head width 2 1/4"
Width base 4 1/4"
Fishing width 1/4"

Anyone knows? Any historicaly significant lines were built in that time? And is it from a light rail or what kind? Thanks!!

Thanks for your reply. I heard there was a Krupp rail manufactured in 1881 that was removed from Santa Fe trackage, approaching the old Ferry landing, along Pacific Highway, in Downtown San Diego.
In the 1920s a lot of Krupp rail. But dated later. And my sizes indicate either 50 or 55 lb rail, not usually used even that time for main line heavy duty routes. So I'm a bit confused here.
