The second southbound showed up riding the yellows. It almost had to stop to let the first southbound clear the south switch.

Thanks for posting. I had to look up Marion on a map. It is on the old SP line between Salem and Albany.
Do UP dispatchers refer to that as a north-south mainline? The old SP was dispatched strictly as an east-west railroad, which made things very confusing on some of the (geographic) north-south mainlines in California and Oregon.

UP dispatches it as a north/south line. The SP east switch became the UP north switch.
