so, how do they keep Stevens and Stampede plowed and open? I also wonder if snow drifts are problematic on the Lakeside and Columbia River subs. Or is today's pwer adequate to simply bull its way through?

Ballast regulators equipped with snow plows/wings are the primary tool. When they can't keep up or if the snow needs to be pushed out further, the Snow Dozers or Jordans come in. They ran the Auburn Dozer on Stampede Feb. 12 and the one in Skyomish on Stevens Feb. 13.
