SP&S 700 Trip to Pasco for Pendleton Rodeo, Sept 10-12, 2014

The Pacific Railroad Preservation Association (PRPA), in collaboration with Happy Canyon, is very pleased to announce a main line excursion pulled by the SP&S 700 steam locomotive with tickets to the 2014 Pendleton Round-Up, one of the top rodeos in North America, and Happy Canyon's iconic Night Show old west pageant. The three-day event includes luxury train travel along the scenic Columbia River gorge from Portland Union Station to Pasco, Washington, and return. Passengers will be met in Pasco by the staff of Happy Canyon for an evening winery dinner and next day transportation to Pendleton for a full day of excitement at the rodeo and the Happy Canyon Night Show. All transportation, lodging, food, and admission are included in the ticket price.

Tickets are $1198 to $2146 per person

Day 1: Wednesday, September 10 - Morning departure from Portland Union Station, arriving at Pasco in the afternoon. Passengers will there be greeted by the waiting staff of Happy Canyon, transported to their hotels, and treated to a welcome dinner at the picturesque Terra Blanca Winery.

Day 2: Thursday, September 11 - Passengers will be met at their hotels and bused to the rodeo grounds to attend the Pendleton Round-Up and the Happy Canyon Night Show.

Day 3: Friday, September 12 - Passengers will again be met at their hotels and returned to the train for a morning departure back to Portland, arriving at Union Station in the afternoon.

Note that while the trip does include a visit to the Pendleton Rodeo for the passengers, the train will be traveling to Pasco, WA not Pendleton, OR. This means they'll be using the normal Amtrak route from Portland to Pasco, as used by the Portland Section of the Empire Builder.
