We return to busy Oslo T-Bane-station Majorstuen.

Class T2000 with support for overhead wire and third rail had been delivered in 1994 and was already put out of service in 2009 due to constant technical difficulties. The western suburban network has been converted from catenary to third rail, Holmenkollen Railway followed last in 2009.

We got off at Holmenkollen stop, the train continued uphill to Frognerseteren terminal.

We arrived at the holy ski jumping hill, flooded in summer to create an artificial lake.

Probably the oldest in the world - the first competition had taken place in 1892. It had been rebuilt seventeen times before a completely new construction followed in 2009 for the 2011 world championships.

Of course we climbed the top.

The airport turned out to be surprisingly chaotic, additionally we were loaded into a cramped Tyrolean CRJ for the more than two-hour-flight back to Vienna.

August 28 2004

As we know from reports until now, we still had a few days left on the ScanRail passes and travelled to Copenhagen via Hamburg and Sylt by the end of August.
We continue with this Öresund view in Copenhagen - I always imagine that all major modes of transport are included in this picture - the rail line is located on the lower level of the bridge.

Seen from Rundetårn ("Round Tower"), a 17th century observatory. The equestrian staircase allowed transport of heavy equipment to the top by horse carriage.
