The Hiraoka books and a number of other live-steam related books are available from Village Press Publications, Traverse City, MI 800-447-7367, or www.livesteam.net. They publish Live Steam magazine as well as Home Shop Machinist and Machinists' Workshop magazines. Look at "So you want to bild a live steam Locomotive" by Joseph Foster Nelson, also available at the above. Usual disclaimers apply, I'm just a subscriber..../video_man

PS: you can find a lot of information on Stephenson and Walschaert valve gears on line, just google them...

Try searching the titles in Google. For example if you search "So You Want to Build a Steam Locomotive." You'll find the publisher (Village Press), Amazon, DiscoverLivesteam and Powells Books all with copies for sale.

What is your dream?

Thaddeus is right, the current Lindsay catalogue has "Steam Engines Principles and Practice," a seven-part "Essential steam power Library," "Practice and Theory of the Injector," "Model Engine Making" and others. Most of their books are reprints of very old, out-of-copyright titles, but with steam technology, that's not a bad thing....www.lindsaybks.com. Go there and request a catalogue, their site doesn't list all their titles. / video_man

_PS: amazon.com is a good place to look also

The titles you have listed are going to be well over a few Thousand dollars and take a few years to find, as most of them were out of print decades ago.

Tell us what you want to build, and what scale you want it in, (what size you need it to be) so we can narrow down the list to a few titles that are more specific to what you want to build.
