Railfan from Germany
I'm a young railfan from Germany and came upon these forums while looking for railroad communities outside Germany.

Looking at some pics from the Vintage Passenger Trains Gallery I'm a bit surprised how many railroad companies used to run daytime and overnight intercity lines. Nowadays in Germany the USA is known as the country where everybody goes either by car or plane. How many long-distance/intercity lines do still exist? I've heard of the Amtrak northeast corridor and a few overnight trains from/to California.
