Exploring Gibsland and Homer, LA

Rattled around Homer, Athens, and Gibsland, LA most of Saturday morning. Gibsland has a park right on the Meridian Speedway, good lines of sight, and a covered picnic area. Nice place to wait. Caught a KCS train running through, in addition to a couple Utah Central Railway GP9s at their (Patriot Rail) shop there. The caboose was in the Louisiana & North West yard in Homer.

Today I made it back out to Gibsland for the first time in several weeks. Caught two trains, a KCS manifest west bound and a UP intermodal east bound. In addition to a trio of L&NW engines at their yard in Gibsland.


I've seen UP trains on the Meridian Speedway going through LA Tech's campus in Ruston, but this was the first time I was able to photograph one.
