EMD of Brazil delivered the first group of five narrow gauge SD70ACe-BB to VLI. The agreement with EMD says that for each SD70BB produced one old DDM45 must be scrapped. The initial order is 46 units to be completed in the first semester of 2016. If Vale also order SD70BB it means that the historic DDM45´s will be gone by 2016. The SD70BB´s will work in the grain corridor between Araguari, MG and Santos, SP.
Here are some pics of the five units at Capitao Eduardo yard waiting licence to proceed to VLI main shops in Divinopolis, where they will be officially received.

Nice looking diesels. Do you have photos of any in service? More importantly, do you have photos of any of the old DDM45's that they will replace? Better get those while you can.

Oh, a long time absent from this website. Sorry to not reply earlier.
The two demonstrators at EEL yard on 25/8/2018 after the end of the tests at Vale mining. They are on way to Progress Rail shops in Hortolândia, SP. It is not sure if Vale mine will order SD70ACeBB after the tests.

VLI ordered a new modification in theses SD70ACeBB. The radiator section was lowered a bit more and the cab was narrowed again. All units delivered were sent to Progress Rail shops to receive the modifications
