Next phase of construction to begin March 2016
Starting March 21, 2016 the next phase of work in the project will begin as part of rebuilding the station as well as more than 2,200 feet of adjacent elevated structure and tracks.
A new platform for service toward downtown and 95th will open, with new, temporary entrances that will lead directly to the platform from both sides of Wilson. The old entrances will remain open, and continue to lead directly to the old platform, which will be served only by Howard-bound trains. A transfer bridge will also connect the two platforms.
This phase of work requires continued three-track operations in which southbound Red and Purple Line Express trains share a single track between the Wilson station and the junction north of the Belmont station.
