I interviewed with CN back in late May and I didn't get hired for a position but was placed in their candidate pool. They said that they will use people from the candidate pool as positions become available but I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long they have had to wait before being contacted or if they really do contact you at all. Any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Did you ever hear back? As of today I've found myself in the same situation and wondering what kind of wait time there might be.

No I never heard back, I tried to contact the lady who interviewed me a few months after my interview only to find out she had moved onto another position. I was informed that I was still in the candidate pool and to keep monitoring the CN website, I never heard anything and it's been almost a year. The funny thing is I have since applied for other position and was not even called into interview. I don't know I hope you have better luck than I do but the candidate pool is some bullshit. I would of rather been told that they weren't going to hire me instead of giving me false hope. Anyway good luck seems like a decent place if you can get in.

I've applied for a number of positions with CN. I get passed over for everything even though I passed the online tests. So I have no idea what their deal is. It doesn't matter for me because I just got offered a job with BNSF in Chicago in locomotive maintenance management. CN's hiring process is long, slow, unreliable and lethargic. Start applying to BNSF if you don't mind relocating. I think they are a far classier outfit that really has it all together. You'd think if they were good enough for Warren Buffet to by-pass his hometown railroad (UP) and buy them instead then they have to be excellent to work for.

Hello everyone, i applied for freight conductor position in CN, i was interviewed but not selected(i guess) as it has been a month now. Since then i have applied for various other locations for the the position of freight conductor and also for other positions like track maintainer and signals apprentice.
I want to ask if anybody knows whether they will consider me for other positions after i was not selected as freight conductor? what are my chances in this situation ?
How often do CN hire people for freight conductor?

So, I did my test and interview here in the States last week Tuesday. I passed, they actually said that I scored the highest of the non railroaders in this hiring pool. They're taking 6 guys for the local yard; I haven't heard anything. I've called, emailed, and am about to pull my hair out.lol I know that's dramatic, but, they said the plan was to have us all report for school on July 31, 13 days from now. And I've heard nothing...any thoughts?

What ended up happening? I was just, yesterday, regretted forna Conductor opening in Michigan. I'm hoping that they don't black list me for future openings. I'm still hopeful that someone might not make it through training, as morbid as that sounds, and I might get called up. I've also heard that knowing other railroaders is almost a necessity.
