In August of 2018, the BNSF operated an 18-car Business Train Special, "Roaming the American West", with executives from US, Canada, Netherlands, England and Hong Kong on board. It was a 5-day trip from Oakland, California to Kansas City, Missouri. In this video we catch it arriving in Albuquerque, New Mexico in August 31, 2018.
Led by BNSF 8342, the train was wye’d and the engines ran around so that BNSF 8005 was leading. However, mechanical problems occurred and SD-40’s 1714 and 1609 were attached to the point where they led the train to Lamy, New Mexico to pick up the guests who had spent the afternoon in Santa Fe and were enjoying a special dinner at the Legal Tender in Lamy. The engines again ran around the train and BNSF 8342 once again was in the lead. Departing later in the evening, the train continued on its journey to Kansas City.
