If only(Sigh). Amtrak's Coast Starlight heads down hill towards Winlock carrying some of the older Amfleet equipment that was used on the replacement talgo trains earlier this fall.
Amtrak's Coast Starlight is coasting through a curve at Kalama, Washington (MP 109 - Seattle Sub). Today's consist has the Amtrak #115, 120 & 507. Two of the three are 'normal' engines used in pool service on the Coast Starlight Long distance trains.
Here is Amtrak #23 leading the Coast Starlight early into Portland's Amtrak Union Station. I like this shot because of the clock tower you can get in this shot.. This is from the SE side of Union Station.
3 hour late Amtrak Coast Starlight #14 passes under the classic cantilever in Eugene, OR. Many different Amtrak locomotives have passed under this cantilever. The only thing different about those trains was they were on time!
March 21, 1987, Coast Starlight 11/12 is assisted into Santa Barbara behind SP SD45T-2 #9357. 50 years earlier to the day, Coast Daylights 98/99 inaugurated service between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
I went out to take some night shots around the Portland, Ore. area. Here is what I came up with. This is again Amtrak #14 going north by us @ Lake Yard.
