    CSX is in the midst of installing new hooded tri-light signals on the CSX Monon line south of Lafayette, IN. I shot this photo of a northbound backlit of course at Romney, IN.

    but this IS a "vintage photo", according to the guidelines. Amtrak tr. 192 is eastbound past one of several semaphores still in service in the Groton, CT. area on Feb. 12, 1982. The "blades" would last another 4 years before being replaced and, yes, the ubiquitous Amtrak...

    The Victor and the Vanquished

    In December 1997, a BNSF BARPAS is northbound at Stronghold, California. At the time, the signals protecting the diamond with UP's Modoc Line were the last active semaphores on a Class I mainline in California. Replacements for the blades were installed and waiting to be cut in.
